Hi Virtual Sined. I love this page and your belittlement of the SPPI! I actually like collecting MIDI files, but only because I knew they'd be used for ringtones one of these days, and now I have a use for them. :) I'm very bummed about your situation with the SPPI, but I was wondering if you could host the files over here in the US (since SPPI is a French-only group, is it not?) Google shows a whopping 178 results on a search of "sppi midi". So they can't be all the powerful. Anyways, my point is, there are places like Hamienet.com that you can upload your MIDIs to (and link to their pages), if you don't care about retaining the copyright to your creations. I myself have created some MIDIs, since I couldn't find them anywhere on the Net. My band's favorite song was the first one... I'm working on Tenacious D's Kielbasa song, and will start on Tribute and the theme to Speed Racer as soon as I can. I'm definitely getting better! One of these days the MIDI ringtones will be outdated, but until then I have my work cut out for me. :) Peace! BTW, I'm not affiliated with the government or any organization that seeks out copyright infringement violations. I hate organizations like that, and being a musician myself, I can't stand the fact that the RIAA uses projected sales figures to calculate "losses" due to file sharing. You know what? I lost $1 million last year because nobody bought the CD that I would have come out with if I was good enough, but I wasn't. Sorry for the rambling.

marco.
I'm surprised that you have had to withdraw your files. Anybody
has the write to play any song on their own instruments - as long as they
do not make money from it. It's a pity because I was looking for a version
of Bonny and Clyde by Serge Gainsbourg quickly. I guess I'll have to program
it myself.
Keep on playing and don't let the authorities grind you down
Regards
Ross
I was looking for a midi file of the song "Wim Mertens - Struggle for Pleasure", and I got to your site. It seemed to be the only site that had some kind of score of the song, I'm a fervent piano player and would really like to play the song. I think it's sick that you had to take down your site because of some stupid copyright regulation. Note that "KaZaA" is still legal (!!). If they want to do something about piracy, they should really sort out their priorities about what to take out first. And by the way, I don't think they're selling more CD's now because your site is down, probably just the opposite of that. I REALLY hope that you can get your files on-line again one day (so I can play the song ;-) ).
Greetings
Jan G.
I had to write about it..
i was looking for midi files for my web site. It is a child loss support
group and I had to laugh about what you wrote.
Congratulations on your sense of Humour. and i loved the way you said there
would be "even less from now on.." >My husband is French and
so is my mother, but we left this beautiful and pleasant country (NOT)
a few years ago to come to Australia for this kind of things.
Like you said, you were doing a great job, and they had to purposely destroy
it..How come it DOES NOT happen overhere???
Congratulations on your good work.

Hi,
I think that you were performing a great service with your midi files and
it is very sad that you had to take down your links.
best wishes,
marc
LMAO, omg, that is so fuked up, and yet funny,
too bad though people have to bitch like they do. I am sorry that happened
to you.
Drew
Yes, I'm so sorry. I can feel your bitterness, and I'm sad
myself. What is happening to Internet? It used to be a freedom exercise,
an unmaterialist world of exchange. From an university-ridden Internet
(WWW in particular) it has become a bussiness-ridden one. Everybody want
to take money from it, everybody want to put price to anything we do.
It seems particularly harsh in France. Politicians and judges
don't like freedom, they want to "protect" us from "evil"
ideas and "dangerous" web sites. It appears we the citizens
are inmature and cannot exchange ideas and efforts ourselves anymore.
Luckyly we will have the politicians to teach us what we can think,
and what we can do in our life, every day, every hour. Forgive
me for writing in english, but I don't speak french properly.

Hi Denis,
I was attacked last month by a bunch of dingo's from Austrailia.
As it turns out, they were just trying to scare away the competition.
I have been so busy lately, I haven't been able to upload all
of the MIDI files back online yet. The licensing agencies here
in the US say that they don't sue websites, just ask for licensing
fees if requested by a songwriter.

I perfectly agree with you. In these days finding
a midi is a hard job.
Gabriele.
I am sorry to see the midifiles are gone. I
been to you site a few times and have enjoyed listening to them.
Charles
Wonderfully said. I've been through the same
thing and I understand. Why don't you join the Music Relief Association.

I'm sorry to see your site go thru this as I'm
a big fan of midi's and understand the time and effort it takes to build
and that each is different from one another. It takes a love of music
to put a midi together. I'm sorry to see that the people who are making
all the money from the songs can understand this. My Best to you and any
other projects you get involved in.

What is going on when people are offened by
your making midi files of their songs? What are these assholes thinking
about anyway? They should be flattered that you even think their
music is even worthy of your efforts..............so who are the losers
here anyway? Give it a rest you controll freaks and live, and let
live........... Go save a jungle somewhere or somthing.
